This month we catch up with superstar paralegal, Jessica Warn, to learn more about her recent experience with Hollard Insurance.
Role: Compliance Graduate
Background: Law graduate with tech consulting experience
Advice: Compliance has close to legal studies / Apply to Yegal!

Tell us a bit about yourself and your background.
Hi! I’m Jess. I started my professional career in technology consulting with Deloitte. Through my projects I was exposed to many industries and teams. I built a strong interest in the intersection of technology and law. I’m particularly interested in how technology is going to change how legal professionals work, how our legal system operates, and how we are going to safely and ethically use AI. I am now working with PwC in the tax controversy team, building my tax knowledge and litigation skills.
Where were you at with your career at the point you first connected with Yegal?
I first connected with Yegal when I was looking for a paralegal role while studying. I had made the jump from studying while working full-time consulting to studying law full-time. I completed the online Yegal e-discovery course, which helped me secure my first paralegal role at a boutique commercial and litigation firm.
Tell us about your experience with Yegal? What was the process once you applied?
My experience with Yegal has been seamless. Once I applied for my role, I spoke with Michael to make sure I was a good fit and to learn more about the role. Michael also helped me prepare for my interview by working through mock questions. Once I secured the job, Michael was regularly in contact to make sure things were tracking well. He was always available if I had any questions or needed support.
Since you got matched to a job, where have you been working and in what capacity?
I was working for Hollard Insurance in the compliance team. I was helping with their obligations management work, helping map their business processes to their legal and regulatory obligations. Due to my previous experience, I was also able to support other activities, such as researching AI use cases in the insurance industry.
Now that your contract has wrapped up, how do you reflect on your time working for Hollard?
I can’t recommend Hollard more highly. The compliance team are incredibly supportive and hardworking. They will help you get the most out of your experience. It was also interesting to see the compliance aspect to law. Compliance focuses on making the law practical and actionable.
What are your career objectives for the next 12-24 months?
I have just started my graduate program at PwC. I hope to start my practical legal training and get admitted in the next two years. I’m also keen to stay on top of developments in AI and technology.
What advice would you give to any students thinking of applying to Yegal Paralegal?
My advice would be to apply! Yegal Paralegal takes the stress out of the application process. It will be like applying for any other job, but knowing you have significantly more support from end to end.
