Tell us a bit about yourself and your background

I am in my 5th year of a Bachelor of Business / Bachelor of Laws at UTS. I am passionate about both business marketing and the intersection of law and society, which I aim to pursue in the future.

Where were you at with your career at the point you first connected with Yegal?

I had been working in a variety of industries ranging from customer service to educational roles over a number of years. Into my 3rd and 4th years of university, I undertook paralegal roles at both a private law firm and the barristers’ chambers. When I first connected with Yegal towards the end of my 4th year, I was seeking an additional role that could enhance my legal skillset and expose me to different sectors of the legal industry.

Tell us about your experience with Yegal? What was the process once you applied?

Once applying, I received a phone call inviting me to undertake an initial interview with a member of the Yegal team. This was effective in clarifying my career goals and past experience that could be of value to a Yegal client. A couple of days later, an interview was arranged with the team at Hollard, and after a successful interview, I was offered the position in the Risk & Compliance team. Overall, this interview and onboarding process with Yegal was professional and timely, and I felt strongly supported the entire time.

Since you got matched to a job, where have you been working and in what capacity?

Through Yegal, I have been able to secure a position at Hollard as a Paralegal in the Risk & Compliance team.

What’s the best part about working for Hollard?

Hollard is a company that is committed to employee wellbeing – no matter what position they are in. Extensive training was given to me throughout the onboarding process, and my professional development is constantly valued through opportunities to upgrade my skillset in line with my career goals. Hollard has a friendly, well-rounded team combined with a strong sense of purpose to achieve company goals.

What are your career objectives for the next 12-24 months?

I intend to finish my studies at UTS and undertake PLT to become admitted as a solicitor. Alongside this, I want to continue enhancing my experiences in the compliance, corporate and in-house legal sectors to secure a graduate position in the future.

What advice would you give to any students thinking of applying to Yegal Paralegal?

Just go for it! Yegal has been one of the easiest and most efficient experiences in securing a position at a well-regarded company. Ensure that all of your relevant experience and educational background are highlighted when applying and maintain strong communication skills throughout the interview process.
